She was born 9/3/2010 at 1:01pm. She weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds even and is 19.5 inches long. Pretty impressive stats!

We went to the Dr. on Monday to do a sizing ultrasound. With Michael and I both being small babies and me only gaining 13 pounds during our pregnancy we were not prepared to hear that our baby was looking like she was already 9 pounds 9 ounces! We were shocked! After speaking with Dr. P we decided that with my blood pressure issues, the swelling problem and the fact that we probably should let her get any bigger due to be only being 5 feet tall that we should induce on Thursday.

We show up at the butt crack of dawn on Thursday and proceed with a couple of doses of “cervical ripening” in an attempt to convince my body to start the labor process on its own. At  3pm we are sent home to hopefully dilate and start labor. Didn’t work, Lentil didn’t want to come out. So we head back to the hospital the next day at 0 dark thirty. After doing a little more research and speaking with his partners they did not feel it was likely that I would go into labor on my own as the baby’s head, while in position, was too large to fully engage the cervix and was measuring in the 95%. I have been having so much swelling from the waist down that and examination reveals that a huge head and a swollen birth canal might be a problem. We decided to proceed with a C-section with much prayer and caution. This was not what I had hoped for but I wanted my baby to arrive safely.

Turned out to be a good thing we decided to do it as opposed to had to do it in an emergency situation. The epidural did not take! After an hour and LOTS of meds we had to do a spinal block. Had this happened in an emergency situation such as after trying to labor and having a baby stuck in duress it is possible I would have had to had a C-Section with and incomplete epidural as they would not have had an hour and a half to numb me. The epidural/spinal block was the scariest part. Every thing else went quickly. She was born at 1:01pm and by 2:15 we were back in the room bonding as a new family. This has to be the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced.

Michael has been amazing! My strength and love. He stayed right by my side praying with me while they sewed me up even though he could have followed the baby to the nursery. He has been sleeping on a cop at the hospital with us the entire time. We will be here through Monday. He makes sure I have everything I need and helps me go to the bathroom which is very humbling. He is so proud that he took his parenting classes and that when ever the baby is fussy he can get her to calm right down. She totally recognizes his voice. Watching this man fall in love with his daughter is making me fall in love with him even more and I didn’t think that was possible. This is the most magical moments of my entire life and I am overwhelmed with God’s love and blessings!
