Just in time for fall…..
Someone will get this Turning Twenty Again quilt for Christmas
Doesn’t this look like the perfect spot for you and your lover to have a Picnic with Mother Nature.
I half expect to find a couple of mischievous wood nymphs taking an afternoon nap.
It is indeed quilted with a leaf pattern.
I love the magic the afternoon sun casts on ordinary things
But alas I sit here on Sunday night utterly and completely exhausted.
Saturday began with the autumnal hair coloring of Brenda. (Aka I colored Brenda’s hair a warm brown for the fall)
Then it was time to run errands with the Michael. Somehow we ended up at the fabric store where he managed to weasel many treats out of me. He decided he needed all his own sewing things such as pin, scissors, tape measure and what not. He put a large dent in the money I had just earned (see above). At least he will keep his paws off of my stuff (who am I kidding?)
After the errands it was time to head to the park for Miss Emily’s graduation party. She finally graduated from the University with a very useful B.A. in art. mmmm perhaps her minor will be more helpful in the whole ‘find a decent job’ quest….except she minored in Religious Studies. Well, best of luck to you gal. Actually we are very proud of her. We rewarded her with the following:
In my opinion it is much more useful then Barbaras idea of a beer helmet. See, we aren’t crappy friends after all.
It was really nice to meet all of Em’s family. Although I must confess I was taken back a bit when her granny and her Aunt were so excited to meet me. Flattered and over joyed of course but still surprised. I felt like a celebrity for like 2.47 seconds.
I don’t know what time she started on the Oj and southern comfort but the gallon sized bottle of alcohol was nearly gone when I arrived at 3:30 (in the afternoon) so I would imagine she was feeling nice.
The the Mr and I headed to the grocery store to buy the needed food items for the taco bar we hosted after lunch today. How can $65 worth of groceries fit in two standard sized reusable bags? That seems insane to me. I felt like I should have many bags of food for that price. Oh well, lunch was very fun. We had several families from church over although Michele and Becca couldn’t make it due to illness.
After a nap I did my friend Brianne’s highlight and haircut. Then it was time to rally together with Michael and wage a surprise attack on the clutter in the basement (Aka the family room and the sewing studio) Especially since he decided he must have his own sewing nook. We had some rearranging to do in order to carve out some space for him and his stolen sewing machines. He stole both of my vintage singers…..
Hope your weekend was full of laughter, love and family. Many Blessings
and I am not so sure I like sharing….
Michael has discovered the joy of tinkering with the vintage machines.
of course the task was over seen by our constant companion Sami. He was very curious and made sure Michael was doing it correctly.
As you can see the sewing room is a pit! I have no excuse other then to say….it’s Stash Game, I don’t get points for cleaning. Only sewing.
isn’t he precious! Sami the Sewing Parrot
Well that stinks! I am ready for some time off! Except I have a pretty busy weekend ahead….
On Saturday there will be Apple Picking and then Emily’s graduation party. I hope to squeeze in some sewing time in there somewhere.
Sunday after lunch we invited everyone over to our house for Taco Bar. Everyone here loves build your own taco bar…ooops looks like I need to squeeze in some house cleaning on Saturday also.
I have been sewing up a storm and have lots to show. I just have to think of a way to do it as it is all Christmas gifts for friends and family and I certainly wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises.
Hope all is well with you and you family. Many Blessings!
She came to live with us today
She is a Singer 221 (Featherweight) that I scored ridiculously cheap off of Ebay. Still the best selling sewing machine in the world. Also very highly sought after.
Eloise came to live with us so that Michael can learn to work on her and do basic machine repair. Well, that is what I told him. I wanted her because she is so stinking cute.
We hope to do missionary work in Africa/South America in a couple of years and I would love to teaching impoverished women how to spin and sew. That would give them skills they need to support their families and I would get to share my passions. We would also bring the Gospel message of course but I feel this has potential to also make a positive impact on their lives.
Since driving Bernie to Dr. Al every time she has a glitch is not an option when you live on the other side of the globe we thought it would be beneficial to combine my love of vintage sewing machines with Michael’s love of electronics and tinkering. Actually he has already claimed Eloise as his own, I don’t know how I feel about that since he also claimed Suzette the Singer 201 as his own…….mmmmm
Just a heads up (a little late)
Two members are running behind but will get their blocks out soon. The mystery block in my package was from Emily. ALso Sara, you package is on its way. I found it in my couch after I thought I had mailed it. Big apologies to all!
